Kayla swam the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle.
In the 50 freestyle she was seeded 88th (dead last) with a time of
38.0 seconds from early January.
She swam in the 1st of eleven heats of 8 kids each. She won the
heat in a time of 33.8, dropping almost 2 seconds off her best time
and over 4 seconds faster than her seed time (certainly a record for
the meet). Nobody from the next 8 heats beat her time. She ended
up placing 20th!
In the 100 freestyle she dropped her time 2 seconds from 1:22.5 to
1:20.4. She likely placed around 30-40th in that event.
