2010 Newton BAYS Soccer Team Tryouts

Jared had a call-back tryout for the U13-U14 (7th-8th grade) Newton team for next year. He’s been playing on a level 3 team this past year but will move up to either a level 1 or 2 team based on the tryouts and coaches evaluations. He scored one of the 3 goals scored during the 1.5 hour scrimmage.

I had a lot of fun playing with my new toy.

MPS Knights fall to Black Watch

Jared and Dad journeyed 3hours to the Union College stadium in Schenectady, NY for a game against Black Watch. Jared started on defense for the first quarter and the Knights held the Black Watch to one goal. He moved to forward for 2nd quarter and then came in for the last 15min. After Jared left the defensive side of the field, Black Watch scored 2 more goals in the 1st half and 7 in the 2nd to give the Knights a 0-10 loss.

The Knights next game will be Tuesday, June 29th against the Portland Phoenix in Portland, Maine (schedule).

No video for this game, but here are some pictures taken with my brand new early fathers day present. Click on image to jump to full size versions. If you need to get at the sidebar, just click on title of a post further down to get the slide show out of the way.

Knights Battle Bulldogs

The MPS U13 Knights fell 0-7 to their sister team, the MPS U13 Bulldogs at Citizens Bank Field in Lancaster this evening.

The Knights have drawn a difficult early season schedule with their first two games coming against the Bulldogs, who are leading the New England Super-Y division with a 5-0 record, and the Ottawa Fury, who now stand at 4-0. They travel to New York on Saturday to face the 0-1-2 Black Watch team, who also drew Ottawa and the Bulldogs early for their two losses.

The Knights only spent aboout 5 minutes on offense when Jared was playing, so the highlight reel is limited. Jared had a few good charges including a shot on goal and drawing a corner kick and an direct kick for the team.

Kayla enters the Work Force

Last week Kayla interviewed and tested for a job in the Aquatics department at the YMCA and also for a life guard position with Newton Park and Rec. She got offers for both!

She is going to take the YMCA job and teach a small swim class, life guard, and help coach the Blue Waves (her original swim team). Her hard work getting getting certified in CPR/first Aid and Life guarding during her time at camp last year paid off. She also got three very good references which the Y checked the day after she applied. Go Kayla!
