After an 0-3 start, Jared’s basketball team has won its last 4 games to bring its record to 4-3 (standings, photos).

Jared’s basketball team went 14-0, winning the regular season (photos) title and taking the playoff championship Saturday (photos). They won 55-46 after being up 20-8 at the quarter, 30-16 at the half, and 43-26 after 3 quarters. Jared has been on the winning playoff team for 3 of the past 4 years now. I don’t think any player has 2 titles in that time span.

Villanova continued unbeaten with a 39-23 win over Louisville to move to 9-0. They have now played all the teams in the league once and have 3 games remaining in the regular season.
After three 30min soccer games and 4 hours on the road Saturday, Jared returned to Newton to score 8 points and make several blocks as Villanova moved to 8-0 with a win over #2 Providence (now 6-2) (photos).

Jared’s has recovered from his fall layoff and gotten rolling with basketball and indoor soccer practice. His basketball team (Villanova/team 7) upped its record to 3-0 Saturday with a win over Syracuse to lead the standings in the 10 team league. Jared contributed 12 points to yesterday’s win.

Slide show of pictures from 1st three games:
#5 ranked Miami (7-4) beat #1 ranked Virginia (8-3) in an exciting nail biter that came down to the final minute. Jared played a good defensive game, slowing down their offensive star Mike Davis sufficiently for Miami to prevail. His work included a key steal from Mike under the basket in the final minutes that helped reverse the momentum. Virginia had not previously lost when Mike played. No video was taken for this one as a full quorum of grandparents were in attendance. Their place in the standings hinges on their game tomorrow against #4 Georgia Tech.

Jared’s basketball team faced #1 ranked Florida State Monday night. Jared made several trips to the Y over winter break to practice his shooting. He had his best offensive game of the season, contributing 10 of the teams 23 points, including a buzzer beater to end the 1st half and a great team play in the 3rd (cameraman misses shot going in on video). Next game is Saturday against Duke, another tough team.

Jared’s basketball team (Miami) moved into a tie for 2nd place in the league with a win over 39-25 win over Wake Forest to bring their record to 6-2. They were only 1 point up after the 2nd period when Jared was on the bench and the other team’s aggressive leading scorer poured in 5 baskets.
Jared covered him full court through the 3rd and 4th quarter and wore him down while adding 2 baskets. Early in the 4th his opponent missed a jumper and said “I can’t run against this guy anymore” and sat down on the bench with the clock running.
