Prior family scrap book
Jared helped Newton North (running at Waltham TC) to a new 4x200m 1:29.52 School Record running to a 15th place at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina (video, results, photos). Jared also qualified for the championship level long jump competition and finished 31st, fighting a hamstring strain from the 4×200.
Kayla was also in attendance, which made for a nice fathers day!
After graduating Kayla closed down her https://whatshouldrunnerscallme.tumblr.com and went public. Over 4 years the site racked up a total of over 7.3 million page views and earned her $12K in spending money.

Jared wrapped up his outdoor Bay State Conference track career earning his first individual league title with a 1st-round League Record 22′ 9.5″ long jump along with two relay silvers (4×1 video, 4×4 video, photos, milesplit slideshow, tab article). In the 4x100m he split a personal best 9.98 for 100m anchor leg. He could stay ahead of Bolt for almost 100m if he just had a running start across the the start line :-).
He now hold the indoor and outdoor LJ records for the conference. In his 25 conference dual meets over the last four years he battled through injury to pile up 316.5 points and 56 1st-place performances helping the Tigers to a 24-1 record and 3 league titles.
Elon defended their CAA Outdoor Track Championship Saturday May 7th at Elon (news). Kayla concluded her track and field career with a season’s best 33′ 9″ triple jump. Photo galleries: highlights and of Kayla.
Brianna entered a county wide art contest hosted by the Franklin County Auditors office called ‘Me and My Pal‘. Â She had to draw a picture of her and a dog she cares for; the purpose of the contest is to help promote responsible dog ownership. She won for 2nd grade!
They hosted the awards ceremony on Saturday and she was thrilled! The original drawing was much smaller, but they blew up all of the kids pictures, which she got to take home along with some other gifts.
Plus, she received a free dog license for Buddy (which saved the Bernards $18:) so the girl is already a paid artist!
Jared placed 12th with a 21′ 1″ jump in the New England Outdoor Track Championships held June 13th in Saco, Maine (video, milesplit coverage).
