Brianna entered a county wide art contest hosted by the Franklin County Auditors office called ‘Me and My Pal‘. Â She had to draw a picture of her and a dog she cares for; the purpose of the contest is to help promote responsible dog ownership. She won for 2nd grade!
They hosted the awards ceremony on Saturday and she was thrilled! The original drawing was much smaller, but they blew up all of the kids pictures, which she got to take home along with some other gifts.
Plus, she received a free dog license for Buddy (which saved the Bernards $18:) so the girl is already a paid artist!

From today’s Geico internal home page:
Twelve hours, 22 minutes, and 19 seconds — that’s how long it took Hartford staff counsel attorney Steve Prior to swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles, and run 26.2 miles at the 2015 IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant in Quebec, Canada. (Results)
It was his first full Ironman triathlon, though he had been doing sprint-distance “minis” since 2012 and entered a half iron distance triathlon earlier this year, and he says he would have been happy with anything below 14 hours.
“You don’t have to go fast, you just have to last,” said Prior. “I’m not very fast. ‘Just one more step, one more step, one more step.’ It is very psychological. Eventually you’ll get to the finish line.”
The weather on race day was “hotter than it should’ve been” for Canada, and he said, “I don’t know what I was thinking signing up for a race with ‘mountain’ in the name.”
“It was truly a family effort,” said Prior. His wife stepped up to care for their three kids and keep up with the household while Prior was on long runs and hundred-mile bike rides. “No matter how it turned out that day, just standing there on the beach I felt very fortunate to be able to be there.”
He didn’t realize it, but several of his coworkers were following the feed that day, checking up on his progress and cheering him on. “It’s nice to know they were rooting for me from afar,” said Prior.
Prior finished his last race of the year in late September, marking the end of triathlon season. He’s not sure when his next race will be, but he definitely plans to keep training
