MPS Knights compete in 2nd day of Needham Tournament

The MPS U13 Knights competed in the 2nd day of the Needham Soccer Tournament. They lost 0-5 to the Sachems Football Club (Winchester, MA) in the early afternoon and then replayed their rained-out game against the Everton America team (Norwalk, CT) in the evening, going down 2-5. The Everton game was 2-3 until late in the game with a goal coming from Jared and a penalty kick from Derek. Everton advanced to the semifinals and finals of the 12-team division in the tournament before losing.

The Knights had 4 goals for the weekend with two goals from Jared and two penalty kicks from Derek. Check out the slow motion version of the goals!

Newton Renegades wrap up 2009 Soccer Season

Newton lost to the undefeated Hopkinton Eagles in an exciting 5-8 game. Jared led off the 1st half with a quick goal 10 seconds into the game before they went down 1-5 at the half. He came back in the 2nd half to score 2 more goals to close to a 4-5 game, but they pulled away with two late goals. He had a full Bucciaglia family cheering section.

The Renegades ended up 2nd in their division with a 5-2-3 record. Jared contributed 17 of the teams 34 goals.

Newton beats Brookline 100-81 in Girls Swimming

Brookline is to Newton as Ansonia is to Naugatuck….

Kayla anchored the B medley relay to 2nd place (beating A team from Brookline) with a  PR-tieing 27.5 and then followed up breaking 28 for first time in flat start 50 free for a flat-start PR 27.97 and grabbed 3rd place (missed 2nd by 0.01).  She then grabbed a 4th in the open 100 free in a flat-start PR 63.97 and then finished up by anchoring the 200 free relay to a 2nd place with a 27.93.    Her 50 free time meets the varsity letter qualification standard.

Kayla contributed 13 of the 93 points needed to put Newton over the top before they stopped scoring the last 2 events.
