One of his better games. He assisted on 3rd goal and created some opportunities. At one point I overheard a jaded Natick father in the stands remark “this kid doesn’t give up..he hustles…has a motor”. Proud moment!

Newton North fell to Brookline 0-2 in their last home game of the season (photo gallery, tab article). The loss drops their record to 4-8-4. Jared played forward for about 60 of the 80 minutes.
Jared gets goal and an assist in 5-0 win over Milton
Newton beat Milton this afternoon 5-0 with Jared delivering an assist and a goal(goal photo sequence). Jared entered the game in the 2nd half with Newton winning 3-0 and quickly gained his assist and goal to put Newton up 5-0 before being moved to defense for the remainder of the game where he maintained the shutout.
The win puts Newton’s record at 2-1 after its 5-3 win over Newton South on Saturday. It opened last Tuesday with a 0-1 loss to Walpole. Next up is Natick on Thursday.
Jared makes Newton North Varsity Soccer Team
Jared successfully competed against 80+ other athletes for a slot on the 2013 Newton North varsity soccer roster. He was one of 5 underclassmen to make the 22 man squad. He’ll likely be spending a lot of time here while he brings back his rusty soccer skills, but he’s been getting a good amount of playing time in scrimmages (photos).
The team has its first game on Tuesday night in Walpole (72min from Cape) at 7:30. The full schedule is linked on the sports.priorfamily side bar.
Newton North Soccer
Jared was one of the few Newton freshman to make the Junior Varsity team and he’s been playing well with the stepped up level of competition. The team is doing well with roughly a .500 record after ~11 games. Apologies for delay in posting on the season. There are six photo galleries available in the photo galleries from various games from the season thus far.
Newton had a close 1-2 loss to league rival Weymouth today in Newton. I took the sequences of shots from the 2nd half and made a slide show:
Here is a slide show of him in the opening Jamboree:

Newton United wins Indoor Soccer Championship
Jared indoor soccer team Newton United won the 2nd session Playoffs on Tuesday evening defeating the leagues other 6 teams. Jared scored 3 goals in their 7-0 win in semi-final and then played fine defense in the 4-3 win over Westwood in the final.
The Newton United U14 soccer team won the Newton Indoor Sports Center indoor championship with a win over Westwood. Photos of the game are available in the 2012 Indoor Soccer Gallery.

Newton United win indoor regular season title
Newton United, Jared’s indoor soccer team, went 8-1 for to win the regular season title. On Tuesday night they won 6-4 on against a tough Arlington team in their final regular season game (photos). They play in the play offs on Tuesday evening (they get a bye into a short game 20min semifinal and then play a 40min final if they advance).

yellow card coming…

Four games in four days
Jared had 4 70-min soccer games last week. On Wednesday Day middle school faced the BC high seventh graders. Day was down early but finished strong to a 5-3 win. On Thursday Day faced Bigelow. After a scoreless first half, Jared drove from mid-field to put Day up 1-0. They went on to win 2-0. On Friday Jared concluded his middle school soccer career facing Oak Hill Middle School (photos). It was a close game but Oak Hill prevailed 2-1. On Saturday Jared’s Bay’s team faced Lexington (photos). Jared put Newton up 1-0 in the first half, but Lexington went on to a narrow 2-1 win.

Newton Bays Soccer drops Framingham; falls to Winchester
Jared’s team had a double header today, playing a make-up in Framingham in the morning and then travelling to Winchester in the afternoon (photos of Jared, Photos of rest of team)
Framingham went out ahead 0-2 in the 1st half but Newton answered with 2 goals in 30 seconds from Jared and Daniel (photo sequence of 1st goal) to even the score.
Starting the day dry and not too cold:

Jared scored a 2nd goal (photo sequence) in 2nd half placing the ball over the goalie and under the cross bar (see photo below) and Newton powered home to a 5-2 win.

The temperature dropped to a near freezing 36F for the windy and rainy afternoon in Winchester. Newton held Winchester to 0-0 in first half, but let up two goals in 2nd half to lose 0-2. This was about as adverse playing conditions as I’ve ever seen, but the kids gutted it out. They played much closer to Winchester than in their previous 0-4 loss in earlier match up.
